So I made a quick screenshot page using the new gallery plugin we have. Contributors should be able to add screen shots to the gallery (called Screenshots) and they will be made available on the page. Unfortunately the page is acting up for some reason and not showing up and after about 1/2 an hour of fighting with it while sick, I give up. Here’s a link to the page, and you should be able to add images from the Gallery>”Add Gallery / Images” menu.

Hey guys, so I discovered a few chunks in the guest world that were missing stone. I restored those chunks from a backup, but it looks like the problem is more pervasive now. I’ve found larger areas in the members world that are plagued by the same stone-less problem.
I found a few others online that complained of the same problem after the update thinking that it may be this plugin, or that plugin, or CraftBukkit in general. But according to this post by one of the developers of Spout, the issue may have been caused by starting up the updated server with an older version of their plugin. We updated shortly thereafter, so if that is what caused it, we shouldn’t see any more than we already have.
Bottom line though, it really messed some stuff up. Any stone within those chunks is now gone, below ground and above ground. If you find any of these areas, please let me know. I’ve set aside a backup of the maps prior to the upgrade, and I’ve been restoring the areas as I find them. I will keep these backups on-hand indefinitely, just in case. I’ll also work on generating a series of cave maps so that we can see just how bad the damage is.
Again, please let me know (world and coordinates, if possible) if you run across any chunks that seem to have had their stone removed.
So the server was just updated to 1.1. None of the plugins have been updated, with the exception of Spout, which had to be. I’ll be slowly updating plugins over the course of the next few days.
See this page for a list of changes and fixes included in CraftBukkit 1.1. See this page for a list of changes and fixes included in Minecraft 1.1.
Let me know if anyone runs into any issues, and enjoy!
Well guess what folks! The Bukkit team has finally released the 1.1 build of CraftBukkit! I’m at work all day today, so I haven’t been able to test anything yet. However, when I get home I plan on testing the build with our current plugins to see how much has broken.
Based on that, we may have to switch back to 1.0 temporarily until any broken plugins have been updated. But if the plugins that break are non-critical, we may end up hobbling along on 1.1 and outdated/broken plugins.
Worst case scenario, we’ll have to wait another week or so for our main plugin base to be updated for 1.1 compatibility. But I’m keeping my fingers crossed that things will still work when I test them tonight. Let’s see some finger-crossing in the comments!
As I’m sure just about all of you are aware, Mojang has recently released an update to Minecraft, bringing the current version to 1.1. Unfortunately, Bukkit has not quite updated to 1.1. They’re working on it, and there are somewhat stable development builds available. But sadly development builds are not meant for a production server.
If you’ve updated your client and can no longer get into your server, you’ll need to perform the following steps:
1. Close out of your Minecraft client(s).
2. Open your Minecraft client, and before logging in, click Options.
3. Click the link next to “Game location on disk:”.
4. Open up the bin directory in the window that just opened.
5. Download this file to your Desktop or other location.
6. Drag and drop the downloaded file into the bin directory that you previously opened, overwriting the existing file.
7. Close your open windows and Minecraft clients.
If all went well, you should be able to fire up your Minecraft client, log in (Be sure to hit Not Now if it asks about the update), and connect to our 1.0.1 server.
I’ve also heard that using the SpoutCraft client works quite well with 1.0.1, so you should be able to use that if the above doesn’t work.
If you’re so inclined, I also have a .zip file with a few goodies baked in, such as WorldEdit CUI for Moderators, Zombe’s fly mod for the DiamondSponsors, and a sweet Chat Mod.
So after toiling with all the different various workarounds that I had to employ on Facebook, thanks to the new hoops that they’re making Page owners jump through, and the obstacles they’re throwing at us, I’ve decided it’d be best to bring our Content Management System in-house. Literally. It’s in my house.
The SDX Minecraft Server is now the proud owner of this custom-themed WordPress blog/CMS. There are a few niceties thrown in, such as necessitating a valid Minecraft Username to register for this site, as well as automatically setting your avatar on this site to your Minecraft avatar’s face.
We’re still in somewhat of a house-cleaning mode at the moment, so please pardon the dust and lack of key elements, but we’ve gotten most of the information from Facebook ported over already, thanks to the help of wwsean08, and we’re working on more and more every day.
If you haven’t already created an account, please do so using the Register link on the left. Be sure to use your Minecraft account name so that we know who you are when you comment. And so that WordPress knows to use your Minecraft avatar’s face in the comment.
If you run into any issues with the new website, server, Mumble server, whatever, use the Contact Us button to send an email to the server’s address and we’ll address it as soon as possible.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your commitment to the server and support you’ve shown for the year and three months that we’ve been operational so far. We certainly wouldn’t be where we are today without you, and the question still remains: Where will we be tomorrow?
